Edward qualified as a lawyer in the City of London before becoming a banker. He continued his career at Hambros Bank and subsequently held directorships at Banque Paribas, Henry Ansbacher & Co. and HSBC. He was also CEO of Dexia/Banque Internationale à Luxembourg in London for 14 years and, more recently, a senior advisor at Citibank.
During his career, he has held a wide range of outside directorships, trusteeships, and consultancies in the media, leisure, sports, property, IT, mining, health, entertainment and hedge fund sectors, including chairing the board of the publicly-quoted Diligent Corporation.
He spent six years in Formula 1 as the senior independent director at Williams Grand Prix Holdings Plc and was a non-executive director of Sportfolio Trading Limited.
He is currently chair of Tap Films Limited and was the executive producer on the highly acclaimed film Archipelago, directed by Joanna Hogg, prior to being an executive producer on Netflix’s The English Game, which he developed with writer, Julian Fellowes.
He is a governor of the Royal Humane Society.
