Hruška sold to Central European Retail Holding
Hruška, spol. s r.o., a grocery retailer, and its real estate arm Sempronemo s.r.o. were sold to Central European Retail Holding, owned by private equity fund Oriens.
Hruška is leading independent retailer and wholesaler of groceries in the Czech Republic. Sempronemo owns and manage real estate of the Group. The Group has a dominant position in grocery retail in the region of Moravia and East Bohemia, operating 570 stores with total sales area of more than 100,000 m2. The Group also runs an industrial state-of-art bakery with annual production capacity of 10,000 tons.
Oriens is Hungarian private equity fund focusing on investments in the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia mainly in the sectors of industrial automation solutions, modular building, and food retail.
With this acquisition, Oriens further expands its activities in the independent retail sector in the Czech Republic. The acquisition of the Hruška is complementary with previous acquisition of Czech independent retailer Flosman done by Oriens 2 years ago. The transaction ensures further development of operational synergies in distribution, marketing, and supply chain.
