Clairfield advises Venlo on the sale of TRED Outdoors to Clarus Corp USA

Venlo Group, a moulded plastic company, sold its recovery product brand TRED Outdoors to the US-based Clarus Corp (NASDAQ: CLAR).

Venlo owns a range of businesses producing and marketing moulded plastic products. Venlo runs a “house of brands,” supported by a core manufacturing and IP development capability.

Founded in 2012, TRED is a trusted brand for key retailers and distributors primarily in Australia, with a growing export market including Canada, the Middle East, New Zealand, South Africa, and the US. The brand, which stands for Totally Reliable Explorer Driven, is well-established in the outdoor adventure market, supplying recovery products across the offroad, 4×4, camping, and caravan segments sells products that are all made in Australia using Australian-sourced and tested high-grade materials.

Clarus Corp is a global company headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, focused on the outdoor and consumer enthusiast market.

Clairfield assisted Venlo’s in-house corporate team in assessing alternatives to fund growth opportunities. This resulted in the decision to sell TRED. Clairfield led an international search for partners, navigating the complexities of a corporate carve-out. After several offers, US-based Clarus Corp was chosen as the ideal partner for TRED’s team and growth ambitions.

The transaction broadens Clarus’ adventure segment into large addressable RV and caravan categories while expanding addressable consumer segments globally.

Clairfield International acted as exclusive financial advisor to Venlo.
