Mexico Development I Honored as Best for the World Fund

The private equity fund Mexico Development I, managed by Clairfield International in Mexico, was named a Best for the World Fund by B the Change Media for setting the bar in impact investing. This is the second consecutive year that Mexico Development I is honored as a Best for the World Fund.

Mexico Development I invests in high-growth Mexican opportunities that are consistently overlooked by the country’s traditional private-equity investors and has demonstrated leadership in the quest to achieve credibility for impact investing across asset classes. In 2015 the fund invested in Te Creemos Holding, S.A.P.I., one of Mexico’s leading micro-finance institutions. Te Creemos has over 120,000 active loans that benefit micro and small businesses focused on low-income populations.

The funds considered as Best For the World are investment funds that have completed the rigorous GIIRS Rating, a third-party verification of the fund’s investment impact administered by the independent nonprofit B Lab. GIIRS was launched six years ago to evaluate the impact of companies and investment funds. Since its launch, GIIRS has rated over 90 investment funds and 2000 companies.

“We are delighted to participate in investments that have a positive impact on Mexico’s rural communities and achieve both the financial and impact investment objectives of our firm”, said Pablo Coballasi, managing director of Mexico Development Partners and Clairfield International.

The 50 GIIRS-rated Best for the World Funds account for more than 3 billion in capital that will be invested in companies across all areas of social and environmental impact.
